Palermo Excursions: Palermo walking tour (max 4 hours)

Walking Tour (duration: min 2hrs max 4hrs)

(we recommend for: 2 to 16 people)

Hello friends, this is a really simple & cheaper way to enjoy a town with an assistant. The assistant is not a licensed local guide and he/she cannot escort us inside the main sites ... is just a person able to provide an umbrella of information and a walking-orientation-tour.

The walking tour usually starts at hotel (or in a specific place). The assistant will walk with us around the town showing the main highlights. We strictly recommend this excursion for active people.

In case you are looking for a licensed tourist guide, we are also able to provide this service for you asking for an extra amount. At this point, inquiry us specifying also the language and, we will customize this service for you.

Day 1: Palermo walking tour (max 4 hours with English speaking assistant)
Welcome to the beautiful island and in the amazing capital of Sicily: Palermo. This morning we will meet our assistant (meeting point will be decided at time of booking) and we will walk along the main streets to reach the famous Massimo Theatre --Palermo Opera House-- one of the largest opera theaters in Europe and is one of Palermo’s most important buildings. The theater was designed by Gian Battista Basile around 1868 and was built by his son Ernesto, who supervised the works starting from 1891. This change of hands resulted in a classical style exterior (inherited from the original project) and Liberty style inside, following the work of Ernesto Basile. We will turn left and we will enter inside one of the most famous Palermo's market: the lively Capo Market
a large open street market that captures the flavor of Palermo's Saracen Arab past. Capo is a blend of general confusion and a jumble of vendors' stalls, winding toward the old gate (Porta Carini) of what used to be the city wall. We will explore by walk all the market until its end located at few minutes walk from the Palermo Cathedral. Short visit to the Cathedral and we will continue by seeing Piazza Pretoria and Via Maqueda, whose “four corners” converge Palermo at a quartet of baroque palaces left over from the heyday of Spanish rule dating from 1560. End of our walking tour. From here we can take a public bus to back at hotel.
